we make a difference
You may ask, isn’t HOH for VIDA just another battered women’s shelter? The simple answer to that is No. You see, existing local women’s shelters are able to only provide emergency, short term services, customarily for 30 days. And when a woman has children it becomes even harder to find short or long term help.
For these women and their children, life has become an ever-vigilant state of mind that takes a huge toll on an individual’s ability to function. Full recovery takes more than 30 days for people who have been beaten down for so long that they have forgotten who they really are. The help they need takes years, and that is exactly what HOH for VIDA is designed to provide. The focal point of our organization is to provide 24 months of Biblical based rescue, rehabilitation and redemption services for women or men with children coming out of domestic abuse.
HOH for VIDA will step in when a woman and her children are ready to leave the shelter, but still do not have a firm foundation beneath them. HOH for VIDA is for women of abuse ready to start their journey down the path to becoming contributing members of society. HOH for VIDA will empower them to achieve success in breaking familial cycles, finding inner healing, and starting a new familial legacy all while learning the most important lesson, independence.
When our military forces are wounded on the battlefield they have someone there to help them out of the battle, whisk them into emergency care services, and finally, later into extended recovery. We would not think of taking a traumatically wounded soldier straight from the ICU and putting them into a different battle, or just turning them out on the street. Yet that is exactly what is happening to many women and children coming out of domestic abuse.
Women and children traumatized by Domestic Abuse are critically wounded just as soldiers are, and in some ways worse. Their wounds both physical and psychological were done by someone they thought they could trust, not by a known enemy. Women and children of abuse suffer deep PTSD in addition to physical injuries, just as a soldier does. These women and children are in desperate need of extended therapy and recovery periods. Yet, currently, all they receive is ICU services for their wounds from a battle which has left them critically injured, and then in 30 short days, they and their children are thrown into a different battle, the battle of life. No wonder they end up back in abusive relationships. We have to do better than this, and HOH for VIDA is determined to do so.
HOH for VIDA is a full service extended recovery provider with Value-Added Intervention services.
Value added intervention is accomplished through:
With these services all in one place, and the sustained ability victims of abuse to stay and heal, they can develop new patterns that will radically transform their life, and the lives of her children. Will you please consider partnering with us to make this mission a reality?
